WAT IS DIE JAARLIKSE JAKARANDA KINDERHUIS KERSLIGGIEFEES ?
Jakaranda Kinderhuis in Pretoria, hou sedert 2010 in Desember ’n Liggiefees wat strek vanaf 1 Desember tot 31 Desember. Die personeel, kinders en donateurs versier 21 huise en die terrein by die Kinderhuis met miljoene kersliggies, en maak dan die terrein oop vir die publiek om dit te kom besigtig oor die feestyd. Daar word ook ’n verskeidenheid van vermaaklikheid aangebied soos straatmusikante, sangers, orkeste, laser vertonings en verskeie ander vermaaklikheid gebeure gedurende die maand. Die fees hoogtepunt is gewoonlik ons groot gospel konsert waar daar van Suid-Afrika se top kunstenaars optree.
Die “Liggie Roete” strek oor ongeveer 800 meter en ons skep ‘n fantasie wêreld en ’n familie vriendelike omgewing met veilige parkering wat deurentyd beman is deur sekuriteitswagte. Ons vra ’n klein donasie by die hek as toegang fooi en lok jaarliks duisende besoekers na die terrein.
WHAT IS THE YEARLY JAKARANDA CHILDREN’S HOME CHRISTMAS LIGHT FESTIVAL ?
From the 1st to the 31st of December the Jakaranda Children’s Home in Pretoria hosts their annual Christmas Light Festival since 2010. Our personnel, children and sponsors decorate the 21 houses as well as the rest of the premises with millions of Christmas lights. The decorated children’s home is then opened to the public during the festive season. During the festival a big selection of entertainment is provided such as street musicians, singers, bands, laser shows and various other types of entertainment during the month. Our gala evening is usually our big concert with some of South Africa’s top artists performing.
The “Light Route” stretches over about 800 meters, and we truly create a fantasy world of Christmas lights that is family friendly with safe parking and security is provided. There is a small entrance fee of R10 at the gate end we have thousands of visitors each year.

Om soveel moontlik mense bewus te maak van die werk wat die Jakaranda Kinderhuis verrig met die kinders wat deur die hofproses aan ons toegeken is, en ook om nuwe donateurs te werf vir die toekoms, om so veel as moontlik mense op die terrein te kry om sodoende ’n bewusmakings veldtog van stapel te stuur om mense aan te spoor om betrokke te raak by die versorging en opvoeding van ons kinders.
Die fondse wat wel ingesamel word, word aangewend om vir al ons kinders te sorg, ons beplanning vir die jaar suksesvol uit te voer en vir die doelwit bereiking van elke huis op die terrein.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE JAKARANDA CHILDREN’S HOME CHRISTMAS LIGHT FESTIVAL ?
Our MAIN PURPOSE of the festival is NOT TO PLACE EMPHASIS ON FUNDRAISING but to emphasise the REAL CHRISTMAS MESSAGE to our children in the home and secondly to the public.
To create awareness to the work that we do at the Jacaranda Children's Home with the children that was placed in our care. To recruit new sponsors and donations for the future, and to attract as many people as possible to the Children’s Home. To launch an awareness campaign to find people to become involved in the care and education of our children either financially or as volunteers.
The funds raised are used to care for all our children, to successfully execute our planning for the year ahead and for the achievement of the objectives of each house individually at the children’s home.

Raak betrokke by die projek as ’n geheel deur fisiese hulp of finansiële hulp aan te bied. Get involved with the project by offering physical of financial help.
Donasie van Elektriese draad en 3 punt muurproppe om liggies se kragtoevoer en verlenging te doen. Donation of electric wire and 3 point plugs to provide electricity for the light.
“Cable Ties” en “Insulation tape” om liggies aan strukture vas te maak en kabels te beveilig. Cable Ties and insulation tape to attach lights to structures and to protect wires safely.
Kies vir u een van die 21 huise op die perseel en help hulle met die opsit instandhouding en versiering van die huis met “Outdoor” LED Kersliggies. Choose one of the 21 houses on our premises and help them with hanging, fitting and repairs of outdoor Christmas lights.
Donasies van staalstawe en ysters vir die maak van vorms, figure en strukture om die liggies aan vas te maak. Donation of steel rods and iron for the construction of figures to attach the lights to.
Borgskap van, of druk van PLAKKATE en “FLYERS” vir die fees en ook die druk van inligting stukke oor wat die kinderhuis doen en hoe mense betrokke kan raak. Sponsorship or printing of POSTERS and FLYERS for the festival and the printing of information documents with information about the children’s home to be handed out during the festival.
Borgskap van vullis dromme en verwydering van vuilgoed gedurende die maand asook skoonmakers vir toilette ens. Sponsorship of garbage bins and the emptying thereof during the month, cleaners for toilets and rest of premises.
Rolstoele vir die persone wat graag wil kom liggies kyk maar nie so vêr kan loop nie. Wheelchairs for persons who are not able to walk the whole distance.
Markies of STERK tent vir INLIGTINGS LOKAAL. Tent or structure that can be used for a marketing or information tent.

Musicians and singers that are willing to perform for free as street musicians and in the Tea Garden with Gospel / Christian and Commercial Christmas Music / Light Classic / Jazz and lounge music.
